As Senior Vice President, Compute, Matt is responsible for leading software and product development of insitro’s platform, which covers everything from execution and visualization software for lab workflows (cell culture, imaging, omics, chemistry) to scientific data and compute, software security, and cloud infrastructure.

At insitro, Matt developed the Compute team, which spans Software Engineering, IT, Product Management, Data Science, and ML. He has guided the build out of insitro’s software systems across the company, ranging from lab data generation (LIMS, Orchestration, QC visualization, automation integrations), to scientific and ML workflows, and cloud infrastructure. He now leads multiple teams that continue to develop and execute the insitro platform, accelerating our multiple therapeutic programs.

Previously, as vice president of software engineering for Myriad Genetics, Matt led engineering teams focused on software automation and genomic data pipelines to make high complexity genetic testing routine in clinical practice. During his time at Counsyl, Matt developed and scaled the software behind several successful prenatal genetic testing products.

In academia, Matt developed algorithms in evolutionary genomics and population genetics for studying problems ranging from gene family evolution, genome-wide patterns of selection, and population structure.
